Editorial approach: how we write and update the guides
This page describes the editorial approach behind CVPebble: how the guides are researched, how we write them, how we update them, and how they are illustrated and corrected, so you can judge how much to rely on them.
What the guides are for
The guides help people write a clear and truthful CV. They are general information. They are not career, legal or immigration advice, and they do not promise interviews or job offers.
How we research
Each guide is based on publicly available careers guidance, such as national careers services and university careers offices. The sources and the limits of each guide are listed in its “Sources and scope” section. Practices differ by country, industry and employer, so we describe general patterns and say when local checking is needed.
How we write
The text is written for CVPebble in our own words. We do not copy guides from other sites. We advise against inventing or exaggerating experience, hiding keywords in a document or claiming skills you do not have, because those tricks make an application less credible.
Use of AI and translation
We use AI tools to help with drafting, translation and illustration. The guides are written in English first, then translated into Arabic, French, Spanish and Portuguese with the help of machine-translation tools. Translations can contain awkward phrasing, and we welcome corrections from native speakers. The cover illustrations are AI-generated and are decoration only.
Independence
The guides contain no sponsored placements and no affiliate links. If that ever changes, we will say so on the pages concerned.
Corrections and updates
We correct errors when we find them or when readers report them. Rules for CVs, applicant tracking systems and local conventions change, so a guide may become out of date. If something looks wrong, write to us.
How each guide is built
Every guide opens with a short summary and then moves through practical steps under headings you can jump to from the “In this guide” list. It ends with a “Sources and scope” box that names the public pages we used. The review date and the reading time are shown under the title.
