A remote role still needs a clear job title, employer and accurate dates. Indeed suggests several ways to show remote experience, including the location field or the description of the work. Choose a simple option that fits your CV and the application instructions.

1. Label the arrangement accurately

You can write "Remote" beside the location, or mention remote work briefly in the role description. Use "Hybrid" if you regularly split work between home and an office. Do not turn occasional home working into a claim that the whole role was remote.

2. Show the habits in action

Choose relevant examples of clear written updates, reliable follow-through, shared documents or coordination across time zones. Name tools you actually used when they matter to the vacancy. A tool list alone does not explain your contribution, and remote experience does not automatically prove every collaboration skill.

3. Keep the work itself central

Responsibilities, projects and results still matter. Use figures only when accurate and useful. Fictional example: "Support assistant | Example Services | Remote | March 2023 - June 2025. Maintained a shared handover log so the next shift could see open customer requests." This shows a working practice without inventing a performance increase. Replace every detail with your own facts.

4. Read the location requirements

Remote does not necessarily mean working from any country. Check the advert for residence, time-zone, travel and work-eligibility requirements. Do not use a borrowed city or imply permission to work where you do not have it. Our home-address guide covers location information separately.

Frequently asked questions

Should I mention remote work in my summary?

If you use a summary and remote experience is relevant, a brief factual mention can help explain your fit. A summary is optional; do not repeat the same sentence in every section.

Should I list my home city beside a remote role?

That is optional unless the application asks for it. You can show your current city and country in your contact details and label the role Remote. Keep your residence distinct from the employer’s location.

What if I have never had a remote job?

Do not claim remote employment. You can describe relevant real practices, such as shared project documents or clear written handovers, without changing where or how you worked.
